Conway the Machine and The Alchemist Deliver New 'LULU' EP
With a new video for “Calvin” directed by Jason Goldwatch.
After announcing a capsule collection with Amsterdam-based boutique Patta, Buffalo, New York rapper, Griselda Records member Conway the Machine and legendary producer The Alchemist have teamed up to deliver seven new tracks for their LULU EP, available now across all streaming platforms alongside a new visual for “Calvin,” directed by Jason Goldwatch.
The duo first teamed up to introduce “Shoot Sideways”, a track that took things back to the murky, golden-era of Alchemist’s production in the 90s while ScHoolboy Q handled chorus duties. Here, Conway is at his most comfortable finding new and clever ways to rap about the drug trade, showcasing new flows on a few tracks while flexing his competitive spirit throughout. There are plenty of Paid In Full sound snippets, too. “I listen to n*ggas albums like what the f*ck all the hype about?/ Like n*gga I could write one verse that’ll wipe ‘em out/ Don’t make me bring the ‘89 Tyson out/ I get it shipped soon as that Louis Off-White come out,” he raps on “They Got Sonny” featuring the only other guest spot dedicated to New York City’s own Cormega.
“Coming from Buffalo I’ve always been after being the tough guy and having the hardest bars, but as I grow as an artist and man I realized I need to be more transparent,” Conway told Apple Music about the growth of his music leading up to LULU‘s release.
The Alchemist’s 2020 portfolio is already impressive, with his collaboration with veteran emcee Boldy James, The Price of Tea In China and his 47-track volume, Good Book Part 1 & 2 reminding hip-hop fans the world over why he’s one of the best producers to ever do it.
