Conway the Machine and The Alchemist Team up With ScHoolboy Q for "Shoot Sideways"
The first single from the duo’s ‘LULU’ project.
Conway the Machine and The Alchemist return with the first single from their upcoming collaborative effort LULU in “Shoot Sideways” featuring ScHoolboy Q. The announcement comes after the Griselda rapper and legendary producer debuted a new capsule collection with Amsterdam-based boutique Patta comprised of four pieces ranging from Security Jackets and Patta-branded vinyls to snapback caps.
Conway last released two loosies in “Sign Language” and the Nicki Minaj-inspired freestyle to “Yikes.” On “Shoot Sideways,” he shows why he’s lyrically at the top of his game with quick-witted bars and some nice vintage 90s sports references. “Hide the cookware in the kitchen cabinets/ Coming at me, you better get your ratchet/ My little shooter like A.I. but he been missing practice/ But he still scorin’ on the opps and he still hittin’ baskets,” he opens up his first verse. Later, he switches his flow, “Diss me, I don’t respond/ I ain’t gone give you the exposure/ Put the semi in the holster if the enemy approaches/ Body sh*t anytime Alchemist sendin’ me a folder/ It’s a wrap for these rap n*ggas, literally it’s over.”
The Alchemist, meanwhile, has been busy at work with his The Price of Tea In China collaboration between Boldy James and the release of over 47 tracks on his Good Book Part 1 & 2 offerings. His instrumental here lands somewhere in the middle of his endless archives – it could have been made yesterday, it could have been made a decade ago and it’s still as timely as ever. The beat is murky, with some sampled strings in the background setting the pace. It’s midnight marauding music. ScHoolboy finds the perfect groove on on the chorus, too.
