UPDATE (April 3, 2020): The Casablanca x New Balance 327 release has been postponed until April 18.

UPDATE (March 30, 2020), 8:37 PM ET: The US release of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Court Purple” US release has been postponed until April 11. International SNKRS sites will still release it on April 4.

ORIGINAL STORY (March 30, 2020) 10:57 AM ET: Even without the NCAA Tournament, March Madness was in full effect this year — few could have foreseen how things would have played out over the past weeks. However, through all the changes, new norms and altered lifestyles, the sneaker community found solace in a bevy of news, drops and leaks. A wide variety of appealing styles came to shelves both digital and physical (mostly the latter), and at least on the footwear front, March is ending the way it started: with a solid slate of desirable kicks. Before we get into what’s dropping this week, let’s take a look back at last week’s occurrences first.

Air Max Day 2020 brought a standout slate of releases to the table, so HYPEBEAST commemorated the day and the tech’s significance with a “What Max Means to Me” roundtable, where Don C, Aleali May, Salehe Bembury, Ishod Wair and more riffed on their favorite Air Max memories and silhouettes. The power-lacing Adapt Auto Max made an unexpected debut in a “Motherboard” makeup as well, while Ronnie Fieg went Force instead of Max, teasing a Japan-themed Air Force 1 collaboration.

It may not be the Nike SB “golden age” of the mid ’00s, but it surely feels like it. Summer 2020 SB Dunks continued to leak out onto the blogosphere, with a wild Ben & Jerry’s collaboration christened the “Chunky Dunky” and a plushly-tooled Grateful Dead style creating a compelling cacophony of noise, hype and anticipation. Although his Dunks already dropped, Travis Scott also revealed a sample of his SB collaboration, devoid of the removable paisley and plaid overlays that were the signature detail of the final release version.

Sustainability was front and center for adidas last week. Parley is reworking the UltraBOOST Uncaged once again, presenting a sleek, richly embellished style. Never far from the headlines, Kanye West and his adidas YEEZY line had a moment with four Foam Runner colorways. BOOST was also added to the beloved adilette slide, making for a perfect WFH footwear option.

For Jordan Brand, Air Jordan 4s and 5s were the name of the game. The ever-bombastic DJ Khaled took to his Instagram to premiere thre new Air Jordan 4s dubbed the “Metallic Pack,” all of which are expected to release this summer. We were also given an official look at 2020’s iteration of the classic Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” as well as on-foot glances at “Alternate Grape” and “Top 3” makeups, both of which re-work classic color schemes to bold effect.

In coronavirus-related footwear news, New Balance put its best foot forward, donating $2 million USD to relief efforts and using its factories to create protective masks for the brave medical professionals who are on the front lines of battling the infectious disease. Even with the tumultuous state of the global markets, Nike managed to beat its Q3 sales expectations — an effort that was aided by its expansive 25% off online sale, with overall digital sales rising 36%.

Caught up? Let’s dive into the new joints. See a dozen freshly-selected releases below, and for a full overview of what’s hitting shelves from now until Saturday, head over to our Drops page.

Nike Air Force 1 “Sketch”

Release Date: April 1
Release Price: €110 EUR (approximately $118 USD)
Where to Buy: Overkill
Why You Should Cop: Showing the process behind the product, the Nike Air Force 1 “Sketch” makes quite a statement, and now it’s set to arrive in a bold black style. With sturdy tumbled leather uppers plus hand-scrawled white details like a large Swoosh and acknowledgement of the heel’s Air unit, this Force flips convention on its head with a backward product-to-process look.

adidas UltraBOOST DNA “White/Black” & “Black/White”

Release Date: April 1
Release Price: $200 USD (Each)
Where to Buy: adidas
Why You Should Cop: The adidas UltraBOOST DNA already turns back the clock with its OG UB-style detailing, but now it’s looking even further into the past with a duo of leather-equipped makeups — “White/Black” and “Black/White” — that are a clear nod to the classic Superstar. Each is luxurious in construction and sumptuous in comfort, and both are completed by a classic gold foil stamp on the lateral heel. In short, they’re the perfect hybrid for Trefoil history buffs.

Nike SB Dunk Mid “Freshwater”

Release Date: April 1
Release Price: $115 USD
Where to Buy: The Berrics’ Canteen
Why You Should Cop: Often under-appreciated, the Nike SB Dunk Mid is getting a chance to kick April off with a bang, thanks to a “Freshwater” colorway. Inspired by Ken Griffey Jr’s famous Air Griffey Max 1 “Freshwater,” this mid-cut Dunk melds skate sensibilities with a smooth teal and black color scheme.

adidas ZX 2K 4D “Heatmap”

Release Date: April 1
Release Price: €249.95 EUR (approx. $277 USD)
Where to Buy: 43einhalb
Why You Should Cop: As 4D tech continues to appear on more and more of adidas’s lifestyle models, the time-honored ZX line is getting in on the 4D fun with a ZX 2K 4D silhouette. Appearing in a gradient fade-equipped “Heatmap” style, the fresh makeup combines ZX style with modern-day construction and bold colors, adding another worthy entry to the Three Stripes’ lifestyle Rolodex

Nike Zoom Freak 1 “Cream City”

Release Date: April 1
Release Price: $120 USD
Where to Buy: Renarts
Why You Should Cop: The NBA season’s suspension was undeniably tough for the Milwaukee Bucks — with the best record in the league and Giannis Antetokounmpo likely to secure his second straight MVP award, Cream City had high hopes. However, Giannis’s Zoom Freak 1 “Cream City” should bring a small amount of solace with its City Edition jersey-inspired hues, bold backwards Swoosh and sleek shape. If you can’t watch the Bucks live and direct, at least you can rep ‘em in style.

adidas 4D Run 1.0 “Cloud White/Core Black” & “Core Black/Cloud White”

Release Date: April 2
Release Price: $220 USD (Each)
Where to Buy: adidas
Why You Should Cop: The most affordable 4D sneaker in adidas’s ever-expanding lifestyle lineup, the 4D Run 1.0 is looking back to Three Stripe classics with these “Cloud White/Core Black” and “Core Black/Cloud White” makeups. Much like the UltraBOOST DNAs dropping a day before, each pulls from the adidas Superstar’s two most famous colorways. There’s also a recognizable gold foil badge emblazoned on each tongue. Although the inspiration may be traditional the rest is anything but, with synthetic uppers and signature latticed 4D “Aero Green” midsoles completing the look.

Stüssy x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 “Pure Platinum” & “Fossil”

Release Date: April 3
Release Price: $160 USD (Each)
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Sure, the Stüssy x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 released exclusively via Stüssy channels last week — but it was so popular that we had to include it again. Hype and dashing design aside, both of these speedy co-created runners are indeed set for a wider global release, which means the multitudes of sneakerheads and Stüssy stans who struck out last week will be able to try their luck again this week. And with sleek “Pure Platinum” and elegant “Fossil” colorways, these Spiridons are something any retro runner fan needs in their collection.

Casablanca x New Balance 327

Release Date: April 4
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: New Balance
Why You Should Cop: Inspired by Casablanca founder’s Charaf Tajer’s dual French-Moroccan heritage, the Casablanca x New Balance collection features two bold takes on the 327: one inspired by Moroccan oranges (green/orange) and one drawing from classic tennis uniforms (green), both with supple white leather bases for a nod to ’70s Italian sports cars. This is the first ever collaborative iteration of the new 327 silhouette, and with Casablanca’s meteoric rise, it’s sure to be one to remember.

Isle Skateboards x Nike SB Blazer Mid

Release Date: April 4
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: Isle Skateboards
Why You Should Cop: Ever-irreverent British skate company Isle Skateboards and Nike SB have created a SB Blazer Mid that even London’s most hardened punks and boarders can be proud of. Thanks in large part to a bold patch on its quarter panel, this skate-ready Blazer proffers a refined-yet-rebellious look, one that’s vastly different from other recent SB collaborations.

Sneakersnstuff x Vans Vault “Venice Beach” Pack

Release Date: April 4
Release Price: $80 USD (Slip-On)/$85 USD (Era)
Where to Buy: Sneakersnstuff
Why You Should Cop: A year in California is a big deal, and Sneakersnstuff is celebrating its Venice Beach store’s first anniversary in true West Coast fashion by collaborating with Vans Vault on the Slip-On and Era. Each pair offers a cornucopia of copiously colored checkerboard prints, and also adds whimsical repeating logo prints on the midsole. In short, it’s the perfect combination of SNS’s fun-loving nature and Vans’ classic Cali cool.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Court Purple”

Release Date: April 4
Release Price: $170 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS GB
Why You Should Cop: Purple has long been the color of royalty, and although one King James may be dominating the NBA these days there’s still nobody more monarchial than Michael Jordan, a fact acknowledged on this bold Air Jordan 1. Using potent purple accents and classic colorblocking, the “Court Purple” is a colorful — but not flagrant — reminder of the best to ever do it. It’s releasing via international SNKRS stockists on April 4, and will then arrive stateside on April 11.

Lapstone & Hammer x Saucony Courageous Moc

Release Date: April 4
Release Price: $150 USD
Where to Buy: Saucony
Why You Should Cop: Inspired by the Native American origins of Saucony’s name and a shared Pennsylvania heritage, Lapstone & Hammer’s Saucony Courageous Moc “Black Sand” offers a compelling story to match its appealing design. With a luxurious leather-and-suede construction plus a whip-stitched toe, the shoe screams quality — especially at its more-than-reasonable price point — and is rife with unique details. It first released at Lapstone & Hammer last week aside a store-exclusive “Bone White” colorway, but this marks its global retail debut.
