SiR Delivers a Soulful and Emotional NPR Tiny Desk Concert Performance
Dedicated to the memory of his late godson.
Inglewood, California’s SiR spent the better part of 2019 wowing listeners with his critically-acclaimed album Chasing Summer. The 14-track project saw SiR at his most vulnerable, intimate and refined and boasted marquee collaborators in Top Dawg Entertainment cohort Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott and Smino. After sharing the music video for “Mood”, the TDE singer-songwriter returns for the latest NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
SiR dedicated his performance to his infant godson who passed a few days prior. “We’re doing this for him,” the singer-songwriter told the NPR crowd. “It took a lot for me to be here today, but we’re gonna get through this.” It made the soulful performance all the more special. The set list included some of his most recognizable tracks with “The Recipe,” “New Sky,” “Wires in the Way,” and “John Redcorn.” His collaborators for the stripped-down live showcase included Roger “Juice” Benford on the drums, Terrall Whitehead as lead guitar, Samuel Davis on bass duties, Ledaris “L.J.” Jones on keys with background vocals from Jacquelyn Farris, Davion Farris and Zyah Belle.
