Kaytranada and Kali Uchis Channel 'Soul Train' with "10%" Music Video
A dance party dripped in nostalgia.
Kaytranada‘s BUBBA dropped at the end of last year after a nearly three year wait from his previous 99.9% project, and the results were that of near universal acclaim. The super-producer enlisted a handful of his most talented friends like Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins, Los Angeles singer and producer Iman Omari, GRAMMY Award-winner GoldLink, Pharrell and many more. The first single on the record, “10%”, boasted a strong Kali Uchis feature dripped in nostalgia and the perfect rhythm sample in First Choice’s “Love Thang.” Now the duo returns for the music video, channeling some serious Soul Train dance party vibes as Kali wonders where her residuals are.
The video opens up with the title screen reading, “An official promo video.” Kaytranada is at his most comfortable; on the turntables wearing a vintage Kangol hat and oversized headphones. Meanwhile, Kali sings into a bathroom mirror in a teal fur coat and counts her money with serious swagger. Dancers intercut the scene in vintage 70’s inspired wardrobes and iridescent backdrops. Kaytranada has also announced his upcoming 19 city BUBBA tour today, which you can view below. Tickets go on sale this Friday, February 7 via the artist’s official website.
