SiR Tackles the Uncertainties of Love in New Album 'Chasing Summer'
With guest verses from Kendrick Lamar, Smino, and Lil Wayne.
TDE signee SiR has shared his newest album Chasing Summer. Tapping the likes of Kendrick Lamar for “Hair Down,” Smino for “LA Lisa” and Lil Wayne for “Lucy’s Love,” the singer-songwriter-producer packages the idea of inevitable separation in 14 tightly-produced R&B tracks.
While SiR utilizes pop culture phenomena — namely “John Redcorn” of the classic cartoon King of the Hill and I Love Lucy in “Lucy’s Love” — to create these unfortunate scenarios, the fervor in his lyrically-charged vocals remains authentic as he steps into the shoes of these fictionalized characters. Entering a world of make-believe, he’s free to touch on the many aspects of intimacy, transforming it into heart-wrenching, relatable verses. SiR adds insult to injury as he lays his lovesick yearnings over a moody fusion of drums, keys, synths, and delayed guitars, relaying a melancholic atmosphere within the sonically appealing project.
