Randomevent and UNIK Link Up for Glow-in-the-Dark New Balance 2002R Collection
The perfect 2002R for those who want to be seen at all times.
New Balance‘s 2002R has returned from outright obscurity to become one of the most buzzy models of 2020, thanks to clean in-line releases and collaborations with the likes of Salehe Bembury, thisisneverthat, FDMTL and more — an esteemed group of collaborators that’s now set to be joined by Randomevent and UNIK. For their go-around with the revitalized runner, the two China-based entities have opted to create a duo of styles that go up when the lights go down, thanks to glow-in-the-dark detailing.
Each style opts for a different set of materials: one offers a leather build — the first such style we’ve seen on a collaborative 2002R — with a slight neon green tint, while the other puts forth a more standard mesh-and-suede construction in black that’s accented by touches of soft neon green. The first offers a fully reflective upper, while the second only lights up its accents for a slightly more pared-back look. Each is rounded off by co-branded tongues and insoles plus a silver ABZORB cushioning system on the heel.
A release date and retail price for the Randomevent x UNIK New Balance 2002R collaboration has yet to be revealed, but will likely arrive soon.
