Washington D.C.–based boutique SOMEWHERE® has secured an exclusive early release of New Balance’s newest silhouette, the 1954R, ahead of its global debut. Inspired by the city’s longstanding affinity for grey New Balance sneakers, the model merges design elements from the 2002 and 1906 heritage shoes.
The name itself – 1954 – derives from the average of those two model numbers, underscoring its hybrid identity. The upper combines premium pig suede, synthetic overlays, and breathable mesh, while the sole construction borrows from both predecessors to create a balanced marriage of cushioning and stability. The new silhouette arrives in three versatile colorways: “Black/Black,” “Slate Grey/Castlerock” and “Sea Salt/Linen,” each finished with segmented ABZORB cushioning for all‑day comfort and shock absorption.
