Behind-the-Scenes at Louis Vuitton's SS20 Runway Presentation
Up close with Virgil Abloh’s lavish floral designs and the creative himself.
Mere hours after premiering its seasonal campaign imagery, we now have an official behind-the-scenes peek at Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection. The five-and-a-half-minute-long video follows men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh as he develops the intricate looks that informed the luxury house’s forthcoming offering.
Inspired by the “freedom of being a child,” Abloh and his team layer a variety of dynamic garments atop models, highlighting a suit held together by velcro straps that allows for a slew of customizable looks. “For this show, it’s experimental and poetic”" Abloh explains, surrounded by various hardworking designers. Floral accessories, seen in detail during HYPEBEAST’s SS20 showroom visit, accompany a variety of richly-embroidered layering pieces, bags and even some wild organic headpieces.
“It’s a collection of wildflowers … in a pasture,” details Abloh. The range is particularly “inspired by the different colors and the different view of individual flowers … an array of colors and different species.” Though the clip doesn’t detail the new SS20 footwear options, it does follow the Off-White™ founder as he strolls through the venue hosting the runway presentation, past the enormous LV bouncy castle to take a final look at the styling on the models before they hit the runway.
