GRAMMY Award-winning producer Cardo (also known as Cardo Got Wings) has connected with Bay Area’s own Larry June and Detroit street-rap connoisseur Payroll Giovanni for the 10-track compilation Game Related. The trio announced the beginnings of the collaboration early last year, but have since kept quiet about the progress, until now.

Detroit and the Bay Area have always had a close kinship in the gangster rap world, and it’s evident here through the trio’s infectious chemistry. Cardo and Payroll last linked on 2018’s Big Bossin’ Vol. 2. Since then, Payroll Giovanni has honed his skills with solid projects like January 30th while Larry June tapped Harry Fraud for Product of the Dope Game and went completely solo for his Out the Trunk mixtape.

Here Cardo channels early 90s G-Funk to the fullest, laying smooth foundations for the two rappers to wax poetically about their time in the streets, even if that means growing up thousands of miles from each other in completely different neighborhoods. The music is universal, the tempo slow and the synths smooth, channeling some serious coastal vibes of the Pacific persuasion. Stream Game Related‘s 10 tracks below and in more hip-hop updates, watch Meek Mill and Roddy Ricch honor Nipsey Hussle at the GRAMMYs with their surprise new single “Letter to Nipsey.”
