COMME des GARÇONS & Mikimoto Craft Pearl & Sterling Silver Name Plate Necklaces
As well as chunky chain and mixed-material offerings.

Rei Kawakubo‘s COMME des GARÇONS has teamed up with Japanese fine jeweler Mikimoto for a capsule collection of seven pearl necklaces.
This unisex collaboration ties in to the menswear industry’s recent adoption of pearls — something that was previously exclusive to the world of womenswear – and elevates it with a heavy focus on COMME des GARÇONS house imagery.
Designer Rei Kawakubo stated in an official press release that “the image of pearls overlap in places with the image of COMME des GARÇONS,” resulting in a range of necklaces made from White South Sea or Akoya Mikimoto pearls that combine with CDG logos, seen on the chain-tag and boldly on name-plate-like styles.
Elsewhere, the imprint adds sterling silver hardware in the form of extra interlinking chains, as well as a piece that combines both pearls and silver links in one harmonious piece. The COMME des GARÇONS x Mikimoto collection is expected to drop mid-February at Mikimoto’s Ginza stores, as well as CDG and Dover Street Market stores internationally, with retail prices ranging from $2,800 USD to $39,000 USD. In other news, this $345 USD Rolex bought in the 1970s is now reportedly worth over $500,000 USD.
