Watch Netflix's 'Ghost In The Shell' Trailer in All Its 3D CGI Glory
The Section 9 crew come together once again.
Netflix has finally released a trailer for its upcoming CGI anime series Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, showcasing returning characters Atsushi Nakanaka (Motoko Kusanagi), Akio Takatsuka (Bato), and Hirota Takaji (Togusa) from the original series. Also returning is director Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) alongside Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed).
The series aptly takes place during the year 2045 during a systematic “Sustainable War,” where Section 9 are hired as mercenary’s to face a being with “intelligence and physical capabilities.” With the returning names and its 2045 namesake, many speculate the new series to be a loose sequel to the 2002 Stand Alone Complex series. Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will serve as the franchise’s first foray into 3D CGI animation, which has become a point of contention among the fanbase, as evident in the show’s original teaser.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 hits Netflix this April.
In other entertainment news, a Nintendo theme park is coming to Universal Orlando.
