Sneaker Freaker rejoins with ASICS for a collaborative spin on the timeless GEL-Lyte III. Dubbed “Tiger Snake,” the earthy twist on the classic runner sports premium textiles and some very special packaging.
A nod both to critters found in Sneaker Freaker’s home in Melbourne and the namesake of ASICS parent Onistuka Tiger, the “Tiger Snake” draws inspiration from the venomous reptile’s sandy belly and black stripes. These design cues are reshaped into a lush beige cowhide upper, complete with suede ASICS logo on the medial side and pink reflective 3M accents on the medial side. A matching outsole is interrupted by the black midsole that spreads across to the heel, complete with paint splatter and gold “GEL-Lyte III” branding across the nubuck heel.
The collaborative GEL-Lyte III “Tiger Snake” is only offered with bespoke packaging designed by Alexander Heir when ordered from Sneaker Freaker’s site on May 23. Not only does the box sport detailed illustrations all across its body, but the hand-screen-printed artwork uses fluoro ink infused with real tiger snake venom, further driving home the inspiration.
