First teased earlier this week, Raf Simons and English band The xx have united in a show of mutual appreciation to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The xx’s debut album, xx. Comprising a concise array of T-shirts, patches, pins and a hat, the offering is a celebration of the band’s enduring legacy executed in line with Simons’ recognizable design ethos.
All the sleeveless T-shirts are executed in The xx’s preferred uniform black color, placing the emphasis squarely on the accompanying accents. The shiny black “X” pins reflect the band’s muted branding and also serve to secure the raw-hemmed patches to each garment, holding the colorful swatches taut against each layering piece. xx‘s swirling, abstract cover art informed the patches, lending sparse color to the understated garments, while the complementary hat sports a small embroidered logo above the brim.
Check out the items above, styled and shot for System Magazine by Simons associates Olivier Rizzo and Willy Vanderperre, respectively. Items from the capsule will launch on The xx’s web store and at select Raf Simons stockists. A set of limited edition fabric patches and pins will be offered exclusively on The xx’s website.
The press-shy Simons recently granted a rare interview during the recent Fashion Talks in Antwerp.
