After heading to Jordan for a ZX500 and then trekking to Vietnam for an LXCON 94, size? and adidas Originals are concluding their “Alternate Pack” with the Marathon TR “Greenland.” The pack is centered around the world’s most unusual marathons —- hence the exotic locales it referenced —- though the past two releases were sunny, sandy and lush, while “Greenland” is nothing short of frigid. This is because it appropriately draws inspiration from the country’s frosty Polar Circle Marathon, the coldest marathon on Earth.

Located in Kangerlussuaq, a small Greenlandic town at the eastern of a deep fjord, the Polar Circle Marathon takes its participants on a trek through the tundra with icy glacier tongues and breathtaking views, all while they’re surrounded by the remote location’s inherent tranquility, snow-covered landscapes and crisp, cold air.

The location and sights are directly channeled by the shoes, thanks to sleek retro uppers that combine stark grey mesh and synthetics with a cool aqua blue suede. The midfoot’s Three Stripe graphic adds just a touch of warmth with vibrant red hues, while the heel tabs introduce a soft green and the nubbed outsole features a marbled grey print. To complete the look, the footbed features a vector illustration that encapsulates all the marathon’s sights, a graphic that can also be spotted on the special box that accompanies each pair.
