Lil Durk Debuts Lead Single for OTF's 'Family Over Everything' Album, "Blika Blika"
The Chicago crew are planning to drop another project together.
Directly following the release of the visual for his “Last Name” collaboration with Future, Lil Durk is reconnecting with his OTF crew to reveal plans for their next group album, Family Over Everything. Notably, Family Over Everything will feature contributions from OTF members King Von, Booka600, Memo600, Doodie Lo, OTF Ikey and JusBlow600, as well as other high-profile rappers like G Herbo, Polo G, Tee Grizzley, NLE Choppa and more. To introduce Family Over Everything, Durk eschews his signature melodic approach in favor of a grittier and more straightforward and menacing style on the DY-produced “Blika Blika.”
“Why you steady asking for my car like you be sliding? / On the ‘Gram like you be lurking knowing damn well you hiding / Heard the feds try to sign you to a deal I heard you signed / Stopped my passport out the airport had to go and cop a private,” Lil Durk raps on “Blika Blika.” “It ain’t hard to find me (No), the trenches made me grimey / Opps made it cool for back door got me slimey / Ran out of pills I need some more I be riding / .48 ‘em up from head to toe, he need dialysis.”
“You could be on the moon and you could feed someone and give back to the streets. You don’t necessarily having to be standing out there,” Lil Durk explained to Billboard during a November 2018 interview, revealing how he remains connected to the same environments he was raised in. “There’s different ways you can do it. I still feel connected. At first, it felt like I did lose that connection because I was lost and trying to do anything to turn myself up. I had to get back to the roots.”
