Take a Detailed Look At the adidas YEEZY 500 High "Slate"
Slated to release in December.

Between the YEEZY Clog, YEEZY Boost 380s and YEEZY 500 High, these next few months are set to be a busy period for Kanye West and his adidas YEEZY line. Now, we’ve been given our detailed look at the YEEZY 500 High “Slate,” the first iteration of West’s high-cut take on his popular YEEZY 500 silhouette. Blending a familiar style with new materials and an enhanced basketball influence, the design melds sport and street in equal measures.
As is par for the course with West’s footwear, the “Slate” boasts a natural color palette, opting for nautical dark navy hues on its upper. Although the shaggy suede overlays are left intact, the base swaps out its normal mesh for a smooth neoprene that puffs out slightly to add texture. First debuted on the YEEZY 500 “Stone,” this alternate construction combines with the higher cut for a look that’s half winter boot and half heritage hoops sneaker.
Pronged leather overlays on the heel add a third material into the mix, with extra structure offered by a durable rubber mudguard and heel clip. Moving down, the shoe’s light grey adiPRENE midsole calls to mind images of the adidas Crazy 8 — once a Kobe Bryant signature model before he left for Nike — and provides some airy contrast with the murky upper half.
A release is currently scheduled for December 14, and the retail price will be set at $220 USD, $20 more than the low-cut Yeezy 500 models. If you don’t feel like waiting until the official day of arrival to secure your pair, they’re also available now at Stadium Goods for $680 USD.
