November 12 marks Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook‘s 31st birthday, so Jordan Brand is celebrating the Brodie’s special day with a new makeup of his Why Not Zer0.2 SE. Fittingly dubbed the “Birthday,” the design retains its signature stripped-back style but adds a plethora of unique details and a bright color scheme themed around the occasion.

The textile-based upper combines stark black and vibrant “Amarillo” in equal measures, then uses pops of crimson to provide further bright contrast. Signature details include a translucent quarter overlay that covers a rectangular text graphic, a split two-piece midsole with Zoom Air cushioning, a size tag that’s visible through the outsole and an exposed foam tongue.

Aside from the color scheme, what mostly differentiates the “Birthday” from its predecessors are the graphics present on the tongue and heel’s pull tabs. The left shoe features a lit candle on the tongue and a star on the heel, while the right shoe presents a standard Jumpman graphic on the tongue but offers what might be the pair’s most notable detail on the rear, thanks to a large scorpion that nods to Westbrook’s astrological sign.

The Jordan Why Not Zer0.2 SE “Birthday” is available now on Nike.com, and retails for $125 USD. Russ’s Rockets aren’t playing on his birthday, but you will be able to catch them on November 13 when they square off with Kawhi Leonard and the powerful Los Angeles Clippers.

Elsewhere in the world of Jordan Brand, the new shroud-equipped Proto React Z silhouette just received a high-temperature red colorway.
