The Woolmark Prize-winning Portland-based label DYNE took to New York Fashion Week with a new variety of sporty looks for Spring/Summer 2019. This time, DYNE’s athletic bent was greatly influenced by adventure gear, with water resistant nylons, oxygen-filtering masks and plenty of zippered pockets, often executed in water camo, grid or tie dye patterns. Cropped pants and running shorts reaffirmed the sporty influence, complementing the lightweight — and occasionally sleeveless — layering pieces worn over tech fabric base layers, creating dynamic looks adaptable to both the street and the forest. Wearable technology informed much of the gear, with “near field communication” (NFC) functionality built into the DYNE branding seen on each garment; by touching one’s phone to the logo, a purchase link is accessed, with delivery guaranteed within four weeks.

Elsewhere at New York Fashion Week, Willy Chavarria, s.k. manor hill and Feng Chen Wang showcased seasonal collections.
