Summary

Public School New York's SS27 collection, 'LIVING PROOF', marks its second NYFW show since returning after seven years, evolving from FW26's homecoming into "a dialogue in modularity."

Natural and technical fabrics combine in a navy, black, grey, and stone palette built for urban camouflage and readiness.

Structured shoulders, waterproof galoshes, peel-away layers, and cross-body straps highlight Public School's roots as a New York story.

On Thursday, September 10, Public School New York, the influential label by Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow, presented its second collection since returning to the runway after seven years during NYFW at Gotham Hall in Manhattan’s Midtown. Titled ‘LIVING PROOF,’ the Spring/Summer 2027 collection builds on the momentum of the brand’s Fall/Winter 2026 comeback, framing this season’s collection as a survey of familiar territory reimagined for what lies ahead.

Where the Fall/Winter 2026 collection titled ‘Everything is Now’ marked a homecoming, the ‘LIVING PROOF’ collection leans into evolution, described by the designers as “a dialogue in modularity” that prepares the wearer for whatever elements city living may bring. The collection draws on a wide range of materials, including natural wools, baby ribbed cotton, yarn-dyed cupro, viscose, and cashmere cottons, juxtaposed with washed synthetics and ripstop nylon, all designed with readiness in uncertain times in mind. The color palette is precise — navy, black, greys, and stone — mixed and matched for urban camouflage, letting the wearer blend in while staying active.

‘LIVING PROOF’ dissects what a “uniform” becomes when school is no longer the classroom, but the world before us. Broad, structured shoulders nod to Public School’s signature silhouette while doubling as protection against wind and rain. Waterproof galoshes cover a new footwear lineup featuring exaggerated toe springs for forward motion, while woven shirts layered with soft jerseys create body wraps that add reimagined depth. Layers are designed to peel away, revealing structured underpinnings, and hardware-less belts — doubling as cross-body straps, thread through the looks, built to carry the wardrobe and accessories of daily life.

Public School New York’s newest collection reaffirms the label’s identity as a New York City story. Born and raised in the city they still call home, Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow continue to channel its restless, convergent energy into intentional designs that redefine menswear and city dressing.
