tobi lou Declares His Love for Sailor Moon in New Video
Watch his new visuals for “SAILOR” here.
A Nigerian immigrant raised in Chicago, the imaginative rapper-singer latched on to music as his form of expression and developed a playful, soulful sound, as heard on his newly released tobi lou and the Moon EP. His new project tells a tale of self-discovery with a performance series of Anime-inspired videos, filmed on a green screen and shot by Russ Fraser, directed by tobi lou and Glassface, who added trippy visual effect.
Today, he shares with HYPEBEAST Music the video for “SAILOR” and explains how it all ties into his new EP:
“‘SOLANGE’ is about a boy getting his heart broken by a girl who was an angel of the Sun . He later finds out that they couldn’t coexist because he’s more of a Moon type, so he takes control of his life by making brash decisions to quit his job and change hair styles, no longer holding his tongue. ‘LOUNAR’ is the next stage of the boy’s life, where he falls into a stage of darkness after cutting the Sun out of his life. Now a broken boy trying to find the light, he’ll soon come to find peace in the moon. ‘SAILOR’ is a short title for Sail Moon, and it’s here where the boy realizes who he is and finds happiness again, in the form of a girl who is the Moon.”
