Focus Features has officially unveiled the gripping debut trailer for The Uprising, the upcoming historical action drama helmed by filmmaker Paul Greengrass. Led by Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield, the gritty feature film brings the high-stakes conflict of 14th-century England to the big screen.
Written and directed by Greengrass, the movie chronicles the real-life events of the 1381 English Peasants’ Revolt. Garfield stars as Wat Tyler, a humble farmer who unexpectedly rises to lead a massive populist rebellion against the oppressive taxation and tyrannical rule of the 14-year-old King Richard II. As armed conflict engulfs the English countryside, Tyler assembles an army of commoners determined to demand justice and fight for their survival.
The project reunites Greengrass with a massive ensemble cast of seasoned talent. Alongside Garfield, The Uprising stars Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, Woody Norman, and Katherine Waterston. The film is produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum, alongside Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye, Lars Sylvest, and Joe Neurauter.
