Summary

IKEA's KOMPISHÄNG is a portable, 12-piece collection built for city renters and students.

The line features tool-free desks, stackable stools, and a wheeled shopping bag.

Launching August 1, the affordable collection includes limited-edition student bundles.

IKEA has officially unveiled KOMPISHÄNG, a new 12-piece collection of portable and affordable home goods designed to address the realities of renting, moving and student living. Developed after extensive observational research with young adults residing in central London, the collection bridges the gap between temporary spaces and a settled, permanent aesthetic.

Crafted from durable materials such as solid pine, powder-coated steel, and canvas, the range is engineered to withstand multiple moves without compromising on style. By focusing on flexible, tool-free assembly and lightweight designs, the collection provides smart, space-saving solutions that allow individuals to effortlessly personalize compact living spaces and feel at home from day one.

At the heart of the collection is a versatile solid pine desk that assembles in just two clicks with no tools required, complete with a built-in handle for effortless room-to-room transport. Other innovative, space-saving solutions include a set of two stackable stools that seamlessly slot together to form a sculptural shelving tower, and a highly adaptable wheeled shopping bag that easily transitions into a moving box or picnic basket. Thoughtful, nomadic touches are woven throughout the range, highlighting items like a pine mirror with integrated slots for postcards, over-the-door hangers, and specialized portable plant storage designed to protect greenery while on the move.

Set to launch in-store and online across the UK on August 1, 2026, the limited-edition KOMPISHÄNG collection will be available while supplies last, with individual item prices ranging from £7 – £70 GBP (approx. $9 – $95 USD). To further accommodate students preparing for the new academic term, IKEA is also releasing three specialized, limited-edition student bundles starting August 3, 2026.
