The film follows a young, struggling Sylvester Stallone as he risks everything to bring his iconic cinematic vision to life.
Directed by Peter Farrelly from a script penned by Peter Gamble, I Play Rocky focuses on the real-life struggles of an unknown Stallone, who flatly refused to sell his screenplay unless he was cast as the lead, Rocky Balboa. Actor Anthony Ippolito steps into Stallone’s shoes, capturing the actor’s unique voice and unwavering self-belief. The drama serves as the ultimate behind-the-scenes underdog story, portraying how Stallone turned down massive paydays to hold the line on playing the Italian Stallion.
