As the much-hyped Virgil Abloh x Air Jordan 1 “White” launch draws nearer, UK sneaker retailer OFFSPRING has taken a novel approach to tackling sneaker resellers, as revealed on the shop’s Instagram account.
One of several retailers offering the Europe-only drop, OFFSPRING has been inundating with raffle entrants seeking a pair of the anticipated shoes for themselves. To level the playing ground, the store is actively revoking raffle winners’ opportunities to buy the collaborative Air Jordan 1 if they mention plans to flip their pair for profit. According to the store, this is because “OFFSPRING are very serious about getting products to the community who want to build or add to their collection, not profit from this raffle.” Read the full statement below.
We don’t condone resell, we are doing everything possible and contacting anyone we spot doing this. See below email sent to some people today: Hi It’s been brought to our attention that you are trying to resell your recent win of the Off White Jordan. OFFSPRING do not encourage resell and as per our terms and conditions for this launch, we will be removing your win and you will not be able to collect from the pick up location. Please do not visit the store during the collection time as you will be asked to leave by security. We’re sorry it’s came to this but OFFSPRING are very serious about getting products to the community who want to build or add to their collection, not profit from this raffle. The store also shut down fakers who planned to submit doctored emails as proof of their raffle win, noting that hoaxsters will be banned from OFFSPRING, as seen in the post below. In more positive news, OFFSPRING recently commemorated its 20th anniversary with an exclusive set of pony hair Vans.
