A Sneak Peek at the Kim Jones x GU Collection
Dover Street Market will also stock the range for a special pop-up.
After covering the recent announcement that ex-Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director Kim Jones was partnering with Uniqlo’s affordable sister label GU to reissue items from his design archive, we now have a look at some of the upcoming goods from the drop. A T-shirt, jacket and backpack from the range offer a variety of branding, colors and detailing, ensuring that Jones’s name is front and center.
The range will encompass 15 pieces, ranging from hoodies and accessories to a host of T-shirts, some bearing graphics and others offering oversized cuts. Dover Street Market Ginza’s E-shop will sell the range along with GU storefronts throughout Japan. The latest teaser images showcase a black T-shirt, highlights a photo of Jones’s favorite monkey, the douc langur, with “Kim Jones’ Douc Langur” written above it. A beige trucker jacket boasts a cropped cut, trim collar, adjustable strap on the rear and a bespoke leather patch, situating a cartoon pickle character on top of Jones’s name. Finally, a black backpack is elevated with branded straps and zipper pulls, along with a “GUEST” patch and thematic imagery, centering around the range’s title of “EDGE OF THE LOOKING GLASS.”
Look for the range to release in March, with Dover Street Market Ginza hosting a special pop-up shop for the collaboration from March 17-20. Check out some teaser imagery below. Elsewhere, Uniqlo announced its next designer collaboration, replacing J.W. Anderson with Tomas Meier.
