Extra Butter & Reebok Classic Celebrate New York's Lower East Side With "Dear Downtown"
Inspired by the icons of ’80s music, art and culture.
New York retailer Extra Butter links up with Reebok for a capsule collection commemorating the history of New York’s downtown art scene. Dubbed “Dear Downtown,” the range includes a shirt, crewneck and collaborative Workout Plus sneaker.
A ringspun cotton T-shirt and kangaroo pocket sweater boast the collection’s title on the front and a photo collage on the rear, referencing some of the ’80s most famous creative minds from Warhol and Basquiat to Keith Haring and Patti Smith. Meanwhile, the collaborative sneaker offers full-grain leather and distressed black denim on its upper, the latter of which will get personalized through continued wear. Contrast yellow stitching offers further visual interest, while cobranding appears on the tongue and heel. A host of lace and insole options feature a disparate selection of colors, prints and photos for a truly customizable shoe.
Extra Butter’s Lower East Side outpost will host the drop on February 24 at 11 a.m. EST in-store before it goes live at 1 p.m. EST on Extra Butter’s website. Reebok recently issued a spate of collaborations with BAIT, including a pack that includes another Workout, a snakeskin Question Mid and the DMX-centric “Ideation Department” pack.
