Update: Nike Football (American football, that is) fans and Kobe Bryant stans alike may be muttering “Bah, humbug!” if they didn’t catch the Nike Kobe 6 “Grinch” Vapor Edge during its shock drop on Thanksgiving Day, but Nike is “Grinch”-y in nickname only, as the scaly style will see a full release on Christmas Eve. Like the shock drop, this release will retail for $230 USD. You may just see it on the NFL gridiron too, with Nike-sponsored stars like Russell Wilson set to play on Christmas Day.
Update: Word of Nike reworking Kobe Bryant’s iconic Kobe 6 “Grinch” colorway into a Vapor Edge (American) football cleat took the sneaker world by storm back in June and now we have a complete preview of the new look just ahead of its anticipated launch date. As expected, the “Grinch” colorway has been replicated with its rich “Green Apple” presentation accented by black and red branding elements. The colorway’s snakeskin texture has also returned while maintaining field-ready specifications thanks to the Vapor Edge’s performance-oriented build. Release is expected to take place on November 22 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $230 USD.
Original Story: Since their 2010 debut, Nike and Kobe Bryant’s Kobe 6 “Grinch” has stolen the show in the Mamba footwear catalog. Even though there have been a range of popular editions, the “Grinch” shoes have remained the most coveted out of the arsenal due to their striking scaled appearance and eye-catching hue without comprising athletic performance. Now the shoes are heading from the basketball court to the football field with a new cleat version.
Taking hold of the Vapor Edge cleats, the forthcoming release directly transfers the signature design of the Kobe 6 “Grinch” model. Fit with the scaled upper, curved heel decals, black Nike Swoosh, red Kobe loge and Nike Zoom sole. Of course, the cleats are also complete with the various “Grinch” green shades spanning deep green, lime green and electric green. The final fix is adding spikes for grip and traction onto the Zoom sole.
Given the popularity of the basketball version amongst professional players and everyday ballers, it won’t be shocking to see the new football version succeed on the field – ripping up real grass and turf alike.
