Assouline Unveils Tribute to Rolex With 'The Impossible Collection' Book
The publisher’s second edition, featuring over 200 illustrations.

In a tribute to legendary watchmaker Rolex, publisher Assouline has announced the release of a new book dedicated to some of the maker’s most iconic timepieces. Titled Rolex: The Impossible Collection, this lavish publication is written by Fabienne Reybaud, a renowned editor and authority in the luxury field.
Rolex, a brand synonymous with precision and elegance, has stood at the pinnacle of luxury timepieces for over a century. The book explores the history and vision of Rolex’s founder, Hans Wilsdorf, who in 1905 embarked on a mission to create wristwatches that were not only precise but also elegant and durable. This dedication led to Rolex receiving the first Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision in 1910, a significant milestone in the world of horology.
The book presents 100 exceptional Rolex watches, including some models never before seen in print. It features significant pieces like the first Oyster Perpetual from 1931, the Explorer worn by Sir Edmund Hillary during his Everest expedition and the Submariner featured in a James Bond film.
Reybaud, with her extensive experience, including a 25-year tenure at Le Figaro, brings her expertise to this book. Measuring 16 x 19 inches and spanning 196 pages with over 200 illustrations, this handcrafted volume is encased in a luxury clamshell case with a metal plaque.
This Ultimate Collection volume is hoped by Assouline to astonish collectors and watch enthusiasts worldwide. The book is priced at $1,200 USD and is expected to release sometime in February with updates likely to role out via the Publisher’s official site.
