HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE Continues To Find the Beauty in Movement for FW24

When it comes to creativity, very few do it like HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE. For several years, the brand has shown its menwear collection in Paris. This Fall/Winter 2024 season, the collection was show in the iconic Palais de Tokyo, where showgoers were invited into a big space, lit by natural light coming through the skylight. When walking to their seats, attendees walked by HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE garment pieces hung on the walls of the space, throughout the runway. Invitees were encouraged to get up close and personal with the apparel items that were about to land on the runway.
This collection, titled Immersed in the Wilds of Creativity, continues to explore the translation of a creative idea into a clothing design. At the core of the brand, the collections often bring forward the relationship between a concept and its actual realization. Interpretation of creative visuals evidently go beyond just turning them into motifs and patterns but rather, the harmonious creative process engages the wearer. HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE continues to find a way to highlight its pieces through moment. Always bringing an ethereal and elegant aesthetic, the FW24 was a testament to the brand’s craft. The iconic pleated material was not only recognizable, but it the feeling of desirability still remains.
In a creative session between the brand and designer/artist Ronan Bouroullec, the collection includes pieces that feature his drawings. Adding a dynamic splash of color and pattern to the pieces, the brand’s delicate approach to its creative process saw a vibrant take on traditional pleated silhouettes, all the while creating new ones through multi-layering and styling.
