Utilitarian Tailoring Ignites a Revolution at Dries Van Noten FW24

The solemn collection looked to vintage military uniforms while reconstructing fur-trimmed aviator jackets in pastel hues.

Belgian designer Dries Van Noten has returned to his customary slot on the Paris Fashion Week schedule, guiding guests inside a disheveled building block under the Parisian moonlight. Negative temperatures warmed by the brand’s array of essential menswear, balancing standard tailoring with utilitarian styles for an all-new look.

Dries Van Noten’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection juxtaposed everything we know and love about the fashion House, expanding its ability to supply wearability and class for all. Solemn tailoring reigned supreme across the range and opened the show with independent piano notes that transitioned to booming electronic beats. Slim-cut coats were redefined with removable knitted sleeves and leather underpinnings, while others accessorized with fringed scarves and square-toed boots.

Vintage-inspired nylon turned into modern military uniforms across slouchy blazers and pocketed cargo pants, while elegance remained in floor-length leather outerwear and everyday suiting. Service jackets arrived ready for battle with popped collars and quadrupled chest compartments, followed by zipped knitwear and gradient mohair coats that reimagine daily essentials. Aviator jackets landed with yellowed fur accents, injecting bold hues in hooded jackets, pastel trousers, and pixilated patterns to last a lifetime.
