Fiorucci's SS23 Campaign Celebrates a Return to the City of Angels
With signature Big Shot photography from Paris Mumpower.
For Fiorucci’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Daniel W. Fletcher sought to rekindle the union between the Angels-embossed label and California’s City of Angels. Enlisting Paris Mumpower’s signature Big Shot photography aesthetic, with styling by Tabitha Sanchez, the close-up campaign reflects the collection’s California inspirations while centering a bevy of styles ideal for the desert.
“I start each season looking through the Fiorucci archive and one of the things that I uncovered this season was a pile of photos of an event in the Beverly Hills store in the 70s for Blondie’s Parallel Lines album launch,” said Fletcher.
“LA is such an important part of Fiorucci’s history and I love hearing stories of the store which occupied the Beverly Theatre with the music pumping and Andy Warhol and Joan Jett hanging out at the store,” he added. “It sounds like a wild time so I always love bringing the brand back here and celebrating where we are today with the new generation of creatives who are now part of the Fiorucci family.’’
In the collection’s color palette, soft tones, including muted peaches, sage green and lilac, contrast bold hues, like lemon yellow, fuchsia, vibrant teal and lime. Textiles span a spectrum, too. Silky shirts pair with jersey vests donning signature Fiorucci Angels patches, while knits communicate the collection’s mood through both intarsia Fiorucci classics and crochet ensembles. Throughout, archival prints, dating back to 1967, plant squiggle logos, heritage monograms and youthful zebra motifs across myriad warm-weather-ready styles.
