Baracuta's Four Climes Collection Fuses British, American and Japanese Design Codes
Featuring three jackets, two parkas and one pair of trousers.
Baracuta has pulled back the curtain to a new experimental capsule collection, titled Four Climes, exclusively with Hypebeast. The range, designed by the historical U.K. brand’s Japanese creative director Daiki Suzuki, takes its name from Baracuta’s short-lived trading moniker in the ’50s in the U.S. Today, the brand is honoring its humble beginnings in the States – and its present-day global presence — with a six-piece collection that merges Japanese, American and British design influences.
The capsule includes three jackets, two parkas and one pair of trousers, each of which takes cues from classic U.S. styles. Across the collection, textiles play a crucial role in the brand’s culture-fusing MO. Baracuta cloth, the brand’s signature material behind its popular G9 Harrington Jacket, meets solaro, a fabric known for its iridescent effect, across a number of looks. Notably, this collection sees Baracuta use denim for the first time, representing a mixture of American taste with the label’s English roots.
Inside the collection, the Derby jacket appears as a distant relative to the famed G9 Harrington silhouette, available in Baracuta cloth, solar and denim, all with classic pocket flaps. Meanwhile, the Japanese designer deconstructs classic English mod-style parkas with altered side structures featuring two button-up pleats for a more contemporary look. Rounding out the range, the Baracuta Cloth Brighton Trousers don a pleat over each leg, dual front pockets and branded button closures.
