Matthew M Williams' Givenchy Drops SS22 G Clog Range
As seen during the brand’s runway show.
Matthew M Williams has brought a new life to Givenchy, giving the brand a voice in the ever-growing designer footwear scene with models such as its Monumental Mallow and soon-coming TK360 sneaker, but for Spring/Summer 2022 it also knows how to continue to serve up subtle luxury. What you see above are Givenchy’s G Clog in both ankle boot and standard boot forms, and they’ve come right off the brand’s Spring/Summer 2022 runway.
The first style, which is ankle-cut, comes in either black leather, ivory leather, or black suede. It’s slightly more technical in its design approach, featuring a narrower collar that extends down the shoe, showcasing its stretch Nappa lambskin leather in all its luscious glory.
Zippers run down the shoe’s medial, while branding is kept to a minimum, just appearing on the sole unit. This piece in question is also a talking point, as it adds a technical sneaker-like feel to the ankle boots. Here, the sole incorporates a 1.8” heel lift into its graphic spherical rubber unit, giving the overall design something that’s somewhere between a high-top sneaker and a boot.
As for the G Clog boot, color choices are either black or pistachio, and are instead made from grained calfskin leather. Here, the collar is much wider and bears Givenchy’s moniker, and the leather continues all the way down the boot for something akin to a wellington. Rounding out this style is a medial zipper.
