Vuarnet Pays Tribute to Dogtown's Z-Boys With Limited-Edition Eyewear and Apparel Capsule
Inspired by archival footage of the skate squad wearing the label’s sunglasses.

Following the hotly anticipated refill to the its sunglasses collaboration with Noah earlier this month, French legacy eyewear label Vuarnet has returned with its latest Summer 2021 capsule, titled “Dogtown.”
Inspired by early footage of the 1970s Z-Boys — a skateboarding squad from the “Dogtown” area of Santa Monica, California — wearing Vuarnet’s sunglasses, the brand sought to reignite the crew’s eccentric penchant for streetwear through a tribute collection of limited-edition eyewear and clothing.
Within the capsule, Vuarnet enlisted On Y Va — a band of skateboarders, surfers and artists from Biarritz, France — to draft up their own “French California” with the ’70s Z-Boys subculture in mind. The range offers up a limited run of cotton hoodies and T-shirts boasting On Y Va’s newly created design, which simply reads “Vuarnet” over an enlarged, retro-styled “V” in both yellow-and-blue and pink-and-blue colorways.
Additionally, the capsule contains 100 pairs of Dogtown sunglasses in a dark blue frame, each of which features its own unique serial number. The shape is meant to mimic skateboard designs from the ’70s with an oversized, curvy construction made from bio-acetate.
The Vuarnet Dogtown capsule collection will be available for purchase in-stores and on the brand’s website beginning Thursday, July 1.
In another fashion drop, Dickies is honoring its 100 years of heritage designs with a new “Icons” collection.
