The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" Spends One Year in Billboard Hot 100 Top 10
Making history as the first ever entry to log 52 weeks in the top 10.

The Weeknd continues to achieve commercial success as “Blinding Lights” sets a new record.
According to Billboard, the track is the first in the Billboard Hot 100’s 63-year history to spend a full year in the top 10. The After Hours cut first debuted at No. 11 on the November 14, 2019 chart then broke into the top 10 on the February 29, 2020 chart, and the most recent chart confirms that it logged its 52nd week in the top 10. Between the February 2020 and recent charts, it only spent two weeks away from the top 10 in December 2020.
Trailing “Blinding Lights” for the 52-week record are two Post Malone cuts, namely “Circles” at 39 weeks and “Sunflower” with Swae Lee at 33. Tying with “Sunflower” are “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5 and Cardi B and “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran, followed by Travis Scott‘s “SICKO MODE,” The Chainsmokers and Halsey‘s “Closer” and LeAnn Rimes’ “How Do I Live” at 32 weeks, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars‘ “Uptown Funk!” at 31 weeks and Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy” and Santana and Rob Thomas’ “Smooth” at 30 weeks.
In September 2020, “Blinding Lights” logged its 28th consecutive week on the chart’s top five, dethroning “Shape of You” to become the longest-running top five entry on the Hot 100.
The Weeknd previously announced a massive global tour slated for 2022, giving fans the chance to catch him live across 104 dates — including rescheduled shows from his cancelled 2021 tour and 39 new tour stops.
