McIntosh Labs Crafts the MHA200 Vacuum Tube Amplifier for Discerning Headphone Users
Featuring a pair of 12AT7 and 12BH7A dual triode vacuum tubes.

The artisans of hi-fi, McIntosh Labs, has just unveiled the new MHA200 Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier. Made for discerning headphone/home audio enthusiasts, this new amp features a pair of 12AT7 and 12BH7A dual triode vacuum tubes — the 2AT7 vacuum tubes amplify the incoming audio signal while the 12BH7A tubes provide the power to drive the output to the headphones.
Construction-wise, the MHA200 is crafted in a custom stainless-steel chassis that’s been mirror-polished to reflect the warm hues of the tubes. It also sees McIntosh’s original badge at the side of the case. For versatility, there are three headphone attachment options: a pair of 3-pin balanced XLR connectors for dedicated Left and Right balanced output; a 4-pin balanced XLR connector for balanced stereo output; and a 1/4” stereo headphone jack. Also, the Unity Coupled Circuit transformers produce four headphone impedance ranges of 32 – 100, 100 – 250, 250 – 600, and 600 – 1,000 Ohms at 500mW ensuring that a wide variety of headphones receive consistent McIntosh sound quality.
Set to go one sale in March, look for the MHA200 Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier at all authorized dealers for a price of $2,500 USD. Head over to McIntosh Labs for the full list of specs.
