The Fantastical World of 'Warhammer' is Reuniting With 'Total War' For a Third Installment
SEGA announces the game with an action-packed trailer.
Classic Warhammer fans will be delighted to learn that SEGA has just announced a third installment of the fantasy franchise’s collaboration with Total War.
Slated for a 2021 release window, Total War: Warhammer III is the third game in the franchise, which launched with Total War: Warhammer back in 2016 followed by Total War: Warhammer II the following year. Aside from returning races and factions, a bunch of new characters and forces will also be making their debuts. Kislev and Cathay are both featured in a video game for the very first time, joined by a series of Chaos factions including Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch.
“Embarking on a new grand campaign, you will be tasked with saving or exploiting the power of a dying god,” writes SEGA in its game announcement. “Each race offers a unique journey through the nightmarish Chaos Realm, culminating in an endgame that will determine the fate of the world.”
The upcoming game will release on both Steam and the Epic Game Store later this year, but no precise launch date has been announced just yet, so fans of either franchise should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come.
Elsewhere in gaming, Borderlands studio Gearbox Software has merged with Embracer.
