Someone Finished a No-Damage Perfect Run on 'Breath of the Wild' After More Than 100 Attempts
Even collecting all 900 Korok seeds.
After more than 100 tries and a few grueling months, video game speedrunner joedun has now become the first person in the world to complete a 100 percent speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Almost taking him 32 hours to complete, the run included completion of literally everything in the game, including a complete adventure log, obtaining all key items, upgrading every permanent weapon and armor set, collecting all the container upgrades, and even finding all 900 Korok seeds. Most incredibly, joedun managed to do this all without ever taking a single hit to his health points.
“The most challenging aspect was definitely never giving up,” he said in an email to Polygon. “You see, I failed that run 100+ times, with 3 of those times being 30+ hours in. To keep pushing myself to not give up and not let the game beat me was definitely the hardest.” In one occasion, after more than 30 hours into a run, joedun was damaged by a freak occurrence and lost just a quarter of a heart, but it meant he had to start all over again. By then, he had killed around 70 bosses and found more than 800 Korok seeds already.
In the end, joedun managed to finally pull off the perfect zero-damage run in total time of 31 hours, 58 minutes and nine seconds, and he hopes now to achieve the same feat with The Masters Trials DLC, which is notably more difficult than the original game.
