Curtis Waters Releases New Track Acknowledging His Bi-Polar Disorder
On the TikTok sensation’s latest release, “The Feelings Tend To Stay The Same.”
Since self-marketing his debut single “Stunnin’” with a TikTok campaign, racking up over 7 million YouTube views in the process, Curtis Waters is quickly becoming one of the year’s most popular emerging musicians: he has so far amassed over 50 million streams on Spotify alone.
After signing with BMG in June, Waters has now released his latest track, titled “The Feelings Tend To Stay The Same,” which acknowledges his own struggles with bi-polar disorder. Written about a friend of the musician’s, from whom he became estranged as a result of his condition, the track is a eulogy to a lost love. “It’s a thank you / apology letter that I wish I could say to her face,” says Waters. “I wrote it hoping she would be curious enough to search me up.”
Born in Nepal but currently living in North Carolina, Waters began earning money at 14 by selling his music to artists that he met via Soundcloud. Citing Kanye West, Tyler, the Creator and Odd Future as influences, he since began writing and producing his own tracks. Now aged 20, the artist is keen that his work remains as personal as possible. “My songs reflect how I feel that day,” he says. “I’m a product of everything I’m into.”
