Inspired by similar action in cities like London and New York City, Ethiopian photographers and artists are coming together in support of COVID-19 relief efforts with a new initiative called Prints for Ethiopia. With the concept “Buy Prints, Feed Community” in mind, all proceeds from the print sale will go towards Temsalet Kitchen, a social enterprise that feeds homeless kids and families in Addis Ababa during the pandemic.

Located in the Sarbet area of Addis Ababa, Temsalet Kitchen provides training and job opportunities for women who are in need of financial support due to different causes in their lives. Since the outbreak, the business has been feeding almost 100 people daily. With restaurants transitioning to takeaway services, the homeless who depend on leftovers have been significantly impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. Prints for Ethiopia has joined Temsalet Kitchen in hopes of increasing the number of people that are being served daily and ensuring the longevity of the initiative.

Capturing city scenes and rural landscapes, as well as intimate portraits and local activities, the prints showcase the culture of Ethiopia through each artist’s distinct style and perspective. Priced at $60 USD, each 8-by-11 inch print will be unsigned and available within the limited window between now and May 23.

Head to Prints for Ethiopia’s website to view all of the prints or purchase one for yourself.
