Watch Mez Rap, Write, Produce and Direct His New "Southside Mez" Music Video
The North Carolina polymath returns with his first track of 2020.
North Carolina rapper Mez thrives when he can do a little bit of everything. He showcased that when he offered HYPEBEAST an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at his “Mood” music video, which he directed for SiR and Zacari. Now he returns with his first offering of 2020, rapping, writing, producing and directing his new “Southside Mez” visual.
The video opens with a vintage computer reboot screen and follows a kid with some unsupervised fireworks that leads to an arrest and some police brutality. Cars burn in the background, makeshift baptisms occur in a kiddy pool and overall Mez continues to showcase his curated vision. “Southside Mez” builds upon his breakout appearance on Dreamville‘s Revenge of the Dreamers III and hints at a promising remainder of the year.
True to form, he highlighted his lengthy list of collaborators in the credits to give everyone some shine. That includes instrumental help from producers Kal Banx, T-Minus and Lone Starr Muzik while David Wept and Drew Corria helped produce the full music video. Editing was handled by Michael Busalacchi & Dreamstudios.
