First Look at Giannis Antetokounmpo's Nike Zoom Freak 2
The Greek Freak’s second signature silhouette has been revealed in black and white tones.

After low-res photos of what was rumored to be Giannis Antetokoumpo‘s new Nike Zoom Freak 2 first circulated in late March, detailed images of a “Black/White” colorway have now surfaced on Instagram — with their validity confirmed by a comment from Giannis himself. The reigning NBA MVP’s second signature Nike silhouette, the Zoom Freak 2 follows the low-cut ethos of 2019’s Zoom Freak 1, but discards its predecessor’s signature backward Swoosh and offers sharp new design lines.
Although the black and white color scheme is inherently traditional, the Zoom Freak 2 is packed full of details both meaningful and bold. The most noticeable of these is undeniably the large white midfoot Swoosh, which reaches from eyestays to midsole and appears to offer an embroidered animal print. Giannis’s signature winding “GA” logo is present as well, placed on the lateral heel. The Chinese characters for “Greek” and “Freak” are carved into the back of the left and right midsoles, respectively. For a finishing touch, the names of Giannis’s parents — Charles and Veronica — are embossed directly between the icy blue forefoot and heel on the outsole.
From a build standpoint, the Zoom Freak 2’s trim synthetic upper calls to mind images of Nike Basketball‘s later-stage Kobe Bryant products, while the blocky, split midsole offers shades of Russell Westbrook‘s Jordan Brand shoes. The exact cushioning setup has not yet been revealed, but will likely be a continuation of the double-stacked Zoom Air from the Zoom Freak 1, potentially with a midsole place for extra support.
An official release date and pricing information have yet to be announced but expect the Zoom Freak 2 to hit the Nike webstore and retailers like Foot Locker this summer.
