Medicom Toy Readies New Nike SB Dunk Low Collaboration
Complete with full pony hair uppers.
Medicom Toy and Nike SB have teamed up once again for a new SB Dunk Low. Furthering a long-running creative partnership that stretches all the way back to the SB “golden era” of the mid ’00s, this fresh makeup marks Medicom’s eighth overall SB project.
The black, tan and white color scheme may be straightforward; however the material mix is anything but. Uppers are constructed fully of shiny black pony hair, with the only deviation arriving via the tan heel tab. Tan sockliners offer more premium material, and a white Medicom BE@RBRICK logo is embroidered on the lateral heel. Down below, while midsoles use black stitching for contrast and a translucent outsole completes the look.
Although this is indeed Medicom’s eighth SB effort, it’s the brand’s latest OG SB Dunk Low since 2008’s GORE-TEX equipped iteration. 2017 and 2018 saw SB Dunk Low Elite and SB Dunk High Elite collaborations, both of which garnered a lukewarm reception. However, due to the use of a more recognizable silhouette and the current proliferation of desirable collaborative Dunks — from Travis Scott to Ben & Jerry’s — this shaggy shoe is sure to receive a warm reception when it hits retailers later in 2020.
