Lance Skiiiwalker and Nick Hakim's "In the World" Gets an Animated Overhaul

Last week saw the triumphant return of two of Top Dawg Entertainment‘s most missed artists. Of course, Isaiah Rashad stole the show with his first song in four years, “Why Worry” but TDE‘s Fan Appreciation Week also saw mysterious and mercurial Lance Skiiiwalker tap Nick Hakim for the infectiously smooth “In the World”. Now the singer is back with a new music video for his first official single in four years pulled from archival footage, animation and alternating shots of cityscapes and nature.
After bursting onto the scene with his notable 2016 debut album Introverted Initiation, Lance disappeared until late last month when he introduced a timely remake of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”. It was the perfect song given the current coronavirus pandemic causing isolation and an overall surreal human experience devoid of contact. “In the World” fuses funk, jazz and subtle synths. Collaborator Nick Hakim is having a moment too, as his own stream of singles like “Crumpy” and “QADIR” are setting the stage for his upcoming album.
