Nick Hakim Debuts New 'WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD' Track "Crumpy"
The artist’s new project contemplates the world’s current madness and the friends that help along the way.
Following the release of his debut WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD track “QADIR”, Nick Hakim returns with another new single, “Crumpy”. The song is a slowed-down, smooth sonic offering that finds Hakim reminisce on past violence fueled by a few too many drinks while longing for the return of that special someone. The songwriting is refined and minimalist, packing an emotional punch that will linger past numerous listens.
“This town has really started to grow on me/ My face has become one with the concrete/ My limbs have rashes from the road/ My voice sounds like the screaming train/ That you’ve been riding,” he sings.
“Crumpy” was written by Nick with contributions from Vishal Nayak and Spencer Murphy, collaborators that he spent quite some time with while touring. “I don’t remember when we recorded this exactly but it was around 2017-2018. We played a couple shows as a trio during the time we recorded it under a different band name,” the musician recalled in his latest Instagram post.
On the recording process for his latest record, Hakim had this to say: “For a while, I couldn’t write. I worked on new music but couldn’t find the right words. But that time was just a build-up to the three months of expression that led to this album,” he continued. “I hope this music will raise awareness about where we are right now. About how we are living on this planet. About how we treat our neighbors. About community. About depression.”
WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD will release May 15 via ATO Records. Stream the song below. In more music news, Lil Uzi Vert took to social media to preview another new track.
