Jenny Holzer Reflects on Climate Crisis With Earth Day Benefit Print
Featuring her Truism ‘ALL THINGS ARE DELICATELY INTERCONNECTED.’
To mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, Hauser & Wirth is collaborating with Jenny Holzer for a limited edition print featuring her iconic Truism: ALL THINGS ARE DELICATELY INTERCONNECTED. As part of the gallery’s #artforbetterinitiative, 100 percent of proceeds from the print sale will be donated to the conservation initiative Art for Acres and the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.
The screenprint features “All Things Are Delicately Interconnected” in a scripted font on a gray background. The text selected for the print has been used in Holzer’s work since the ’70s and ’80s when her Truisms were shown on electronic signboards above Times Square. Her phrases — which challenge expectations by presenting seemingly authoritative statements that reveal questions and contradictions — continue to wield powerful force for reflection and change.
On Earth Day, the statement speaks to the global coronavirus pandemic, as well as the ongoing climate crisis. Holzer has also taken to Instagram to post Truisms regarding the current situation, such as ‘KNOW WHERE YOUR HANDS ARE AT ALL TIMES’ and ‘PROTECT ME FROM WHAT I DON’T WANT.’
Available in an edition of 100, the print will launch on Hauser & Wirth’s website on April 22.
For more Earth Day drops, Robin F. Williams will release a special print edition titled Earth Prayer with Pace Prints.
