FaZe Clan Teams Up With NFL for "Draft-A-Thon" & Exclusive Merch
The first-ever virtual draft will benefit COVID-19 relief efforts.
After partnering with local professional hockey team the Los Angeles Kings for a charity tournament along with collaborative merchandise, FaZe Clan is now joining NFL for its 2020 “Draft-A-Thon” — the first-ever virtual draft. To commemorate the event, the pair have teamed up for a limited edition apparel collection, marking the NFL’s first clothing collaboration with a gaming organization.
The exclusive merchandise features black hoodies and T-shirts boasting a colorful design that references late ’90s and early 2000s football arcade games that FaZe Clan talent grew up playing. On the fronts of the T-shirts, two helmets face each, representing a head-to-head battle both in sports and gaming. The backs are covered in football team logos. “Our merch collab and participating in the Draft-A-Thon will be the first time a lot of traditional sports fans and NFL fans will be introduced to esports, so this isn’t only a huge moment for FaZe Clan, but it’s big for esports in general,” says FaZe Clan founder FaZe Banks.
A fundraising campaign aimed at raising funds for COVID-19 relief efforts, “Draft-A-Thon” will be livestreamed on NFL social and digital platforms. In addition to donations, “Draft-A-Thon” will pay tribute to healthcare workers, first responders and others on the front lines of the battle against the virus.
Ranging between $40 to $80 USD, the merch will launch on FaZe Clan and the NFL Shop’s websites at 3 p.m. EDT on April 23. Donations can be made in support of COVID-19 relief efforts on NFL’s website.
