Nike SB Pays Homage to Ken Griffey Jr. With Dunk Mid Pro "Freshwater"
Nodding to the Nike Air Griffey Max 1’s most famous colorway.
Nike SB‘s SB Dunk Mid may not be afforded the same standing as the SB Dunk High or SB Dunk Low, but it’s still an important — if occasionally underutilized — part of Nike‘s skateboarding lineup, one that’s now surfaced in a “Freshwater” colorway. Seemingly drawing inspiration from Ken Griffey Jr‘s Air Griffey Max 1 “Freshwater,” this mid-cut skate silhouette offers a retro Seattle Mariners-style color scheme with plenty of appealing details.
A cool teal hue is present on the quarter, toebox and collar, while black is used on the mudguard, eyestays, throat and strap. White Swooshes take up residence on the quarter panel and toebox, with an extra small teal Swoosh appearing on the strap. This miniature check sits directly next to a white “58” graphic, which may very well be a reference to 2018’s SB Zoom Blazer Mid “Club 58,” a style designed by a collective of skate shop employees. Red tongue branding and black midsoles with white contrast stitching complete the look.
The Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro is priced at $115 USD, and scheduled for a release on April 1 at retailers like Caliroots and The Berrics’ Canteen.
