Kehlani Releases Isolated, Self-Shot "Toxic" Music Video
Dubbed (Quarantine Style) by the singer-songwriter.
Kehlani‘s doing just fine with social distancing. The singer-songwriter released her latest music video for her hit single “Toxic”. The visual effort was self-shot entirely on her computer webcam with a number of wardrobe changes, grainy, strobing lights and some serious dance moves that toe the line into NSFW territory. The GRAMMY Award-nominee takes brief breaks only to stare at her reflection and smoke.
Kehlani’s had a tough start to 2020, but her relationship drama has only fueled a creative spark that has led to a series of hit records. After showing her love for YG on Valentine’s Day with “Konclusions”, just three days later she dropped the break-up anthem “Valentine’s Day (Shameful)”. The dark turn has been in stark contrast to the pop-infused “All Me/Change Your Life” offering from the top of February and her Justin Bieber collaboration, “Get Me”.
“I was red wine drunk tonight and locked myself in my room for an hour. Never edited a video before, shoutout iMovie on the Mac,” Kehlani said before the visual’s release.
While this would normally be deemed some post break-up toxicity, given the current climate, Kehlani’s acting downright responsible. Watch the music video above and stream “Toxic” below.
